Vrooman Memorial Regatta

The Bill Vrooman Memorial Regatta wil be held next week, Sunday, August 17th at the club. This is the first in a series of ten races sponsored by Catalina Yachts to determine the champion of the year. Sailors representing 25 Southern California yacht clubs will be our guests.

Sail-A-Thon 2008

The annual Sail-A-Thon was held on Saturday, August 2nd at the WYC. Sixteen boats participated by sailing laps starting at 1pm and finishing at 5 pm. About seventy-five parents and club members watched from the deck as the sailors rounded Mark 2 and Mark 8. The winner of the Laser class was Jackie Hollander and the Sabot winner was Riley Magadow.

Lunch for the sailors and guests was served by Boccaccio's on the Landing. Many club members were in attendance to cheer the junior sailors.

This annual event is our club's only fund raiser and this year's donations reached the $10,000 goal set by the WYC board. The money will be allocated for Junior needs.

Our next regatta is the Vrooman Mem. on August 17. Sailors representing 25 yacht clubs will visit our club to compete for the Sabot High Point Series. Last year we hosted 45 boats.
