Another typical "non-prevailing wind" day for the Turkey Day Regatta at Westlake -- southwesterly to northwesterly, but no where near as squirrely as the Trick or Treat Regatta. Why doesn't it ever just blow straight down the lake anymore? That's the way Bill Ficker designed it!
We had a weak turnout maybe due in part to long time member Bob Hunt's memorial service and celebration of life. He will be missed.
Lido 14's: A very competitive 3 boat Lido 14 class. Everyone had a first. After the third race the Potters and Bruce and Mark headed for the dock by the launch ramp. Kelly and Kevin loitered around the start line. Was the day over? Kelly hoped not! She was only a point out of first and she really looked like she wanted one last shot. OK, a short one.
After rounding the last mark with the sun low on the horizon, Kelly sat second and still had some work to do: First overall.
C-18's: Sal and Mitty won all three races. Ken and Michaella were the 2nd.
C-14's: Ross and Susan won all three races. Brian and Jon Rode, well, they were the only other boat.
Laser: Thanks to Christian Lee for coming out and mixing it up with the Lidos.
Many thanks to Chris and Debby Chigaridas for helping on Race Committee.
See you all at the Kris Kringle on December 12th.
