Did you know?
The Alice Robinson memorial regatta was started in 1985. Alice moved to Westlake from New York and joined WYC in 1971. Alice served the club as a board member, treasurer, secretary and editor of the telltales. She helped form today’s opening day ceremonies and started our Friday night happy hours. She is one of a very few members that was named Honorary Staff Commodore. Our own Ann Nelson is Alice Robinson’s daughter. The apple did not fall from the tree as they say!

2010 Ultimate 20 North American Championship
Mike Eisenberg, Larry DuBois and I are back after 5 thrilling days of sailboat racing at Lake Dillon Colorado for the Dillon Open last Saturday and Sunday and the Ultimate 20 North American Championship Monday thru Wednesday. We placed 4th at The Open (15 boats) but found "something extra" for the North Americans (25 boats) with two 7ths, two 5ths, two 3rds, two 2nds and we threw out a 13th for second place overall. Yeah, we're kind a stunned too! Two Canadian sail makers have dominated the class the past few years and placing second between two “professionals” is an accomplishment we’re quite proud of. We had good boat speed to weather, pointed much better than we have all year and had great speed downwind. We looked for and found clear air most of the time, avoided confrontations and often found ourselves clear of the pack. A few times we had some good luck that allowed us to take advantage of other’s misfortunes. We’re stoked!
