The WYC will host the Sabot High Point Series this Sunday, March 27. Sabot sailors from Southern California will be competing for points toward the fleet championship. Classes include A, B, & C. Registration is from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. with the Skipper's meeting starting at 12:30 p.m.. The first race will begin at 1 p.m. weather permitting. All U.S. Sabot sailors are welcome to participate.

Gnarly day at the Lake. Winds were gusting 10-20 MPH with an occassional 25MPH. We lost one C-14.2 because of a malfunction causing it to return to the docks. Later one boat flipped and the sailors had to be rescued. A C-18 was lodged among boats and docks at the island. The Olympic God Medal Regatta is in honor of two WYC sailors who won the medal at the 1988 Soul Olympics. Another typical "non-prevailing wind" day for the Turkey Day Regatta at Westlake -- southwesterly to northwesterly, but no where near as squirrely as the Trick or Treat Regatta. We have completed two sessions of our Summer Sailing Academy. Thirty sailors have participated and are now sailing as Juniors.The third and final session will start on Monday, August 2 at 11 a.m. and finish on August 12th with a graduation BBQ. The July 4th "Round the Island Race" was well attended. The young Sabot sailors were given a 15 minute head start and then all the other sailboats played catch up. The 2009 Sail-A-Thon was a great success. Fifteen junior sailors participated. Hayden Luff sailed the most laps and his name will be added to the perpetual trophy. The money raised will be presented to the Westlake Nautical Foundation.
